whats the high price and whats the low price and whats the minimal you would accept for a truck load, weather its van, reefer or flatbed!!! just tell me a little about you experence as a owner operator independent truck driver, and what would be too low for a job. i imagine anything under 2.00cpm a mile would be a major loss. as i have researched it would cost between 1.20-1.50cpm to operate! or is hotshot the better alternative?

Everyone has their set numbers. You have to take into concideration fuel taxes, ifta, maintenance insurance and a lot of other things. What I may be paying for insurance could be less could be more than you are paying, thus making my cost per mile different from yours. Sit down and look at your expenses. Hope that helps.

There really isn't an answer to the question. I am hauling a pretty cheap ($1.45) load today to get somewhere to pick up a $2.85 a mile load back home. I would never haul $1.45 both ways - be working for less than company driver pay. It also depends on how far the load goes. I did a bunch of short loads this past week and was pretty close to $4 a mile loaded but with the deadhead and low miles it really wasn't a big profit week for me.

I guess what I'm saying is there is more to it than just per mile rate. Your fixed costs (truck, trailer, insurance, license etc) don't change because you ran more miles but your variable costs do (fuel, maintenance, etc). I also take into consideration how much time I'm going to have in the load and other variables.
