Irp asks for unit number but you don’t need to display one

I think you need to be able to read it at like 50 feet ??

Some shippers might want to see a truck and trailer number

I haul some military and government type stuff and they seem to always want to physically see that number and put it on their paperwork
Now I don’t know if just telling them the number if that would be acceptable or not

I have my truck numbers on the side of hood
Trailer is on the drivers side front and rear corners

A truck and trailer number is required info at most places I've ever loaded up at. Heck, that info is required at a Cat scale.

Maybe DOT doesn't require it to be stickered but why wouldn't you?

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I have the Company name, last 6 of the vin, fire extinguisher inside on box door, dot, truck and trailer numbers

maybe not all is required but you can make that stuff look good and maybe prevent an issue down the road with some prick or shipper

I’ll be pulling a propane wagon so having a # on my truck isn’t a huge deal. Just wanted to make sure DOT didn’t get all excited about it missing lol. I do have a # that I registered with the IRP, but right now I’m just doing minimal lettering. I like how it looks “clean” without a lot of stuff on it.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Good point. Less for DOT to have a reason to inspect you…

If your running Colorado and your vin isn’t visible you’ll be walking into the scale house 99% of the time to show em your papers.

But you only need to have it on the right side of the truck
