whatta joke.
all they will do is tax non egr or urea vehicles more..
thus making those of us that truly cannot afford it, subsidise those who can. -
How many people use trucks older than 1995 anyway? Saying that Volvo saves 30 percent less fuel is a tough one for me to swallow. If anything these new emission trucks that require SCR will increase operating cost. International is the only manufacture using advance EGR, they are not going with the SCR deal because they feel it'll increase costs and the advance EGR is 2010 compliant. I think 2010 is the last emission bull crap because you can't get a diesel any cleaner.

almost all local trucks are old units.
Thats because there aint enough money in it to run newer gear.
30%? thats an utter load of crap and volvo are so #### expensive, they should near produce fuel while running. -
I run local and our companies oldest, most beat down POS is a 2000. 1.3 million on that truck and I swear my Ranger could out pull it.
And never say they can't get any cleaner, they'll make the engine boys find a way. -

its alla load of BS.. they have been caought out like a kid with their hand in the cookie jar.. the climate change legislations are being rammed through before the public wakes up..
-
And you better adjust.
Time to stop #####ing and find a way to cope people. Of course, maybe not. I don't like competition out there and I will live just fine.
As you were. -
Jeep, there isnt a way to adjust in this place.
put simply, there isnt enough money to operate a new rig out here.
the majority of freight is controled by major co's. they dictate what we get paid.
no negotiations.
the government has legislation being written to stop the majors abusing sub contractors, as they have been caught manipulating government reports to suit themselves, but its still at least 18 months away.
i would dearly love to see you come to au and operate a new rig, worth at the very least $180K ( none are cheaper, most sit in the $240-280K range ) with $10K per year insurance, 8K per year registration, $4.8 a Gal diesel costs and so on all for the princley sum of $55 a hour, on 8 hours a day 4 maybe 5 days a week.
I have no problem with advances in technology, but force mandating things is nothing more than a covert way of asisting companies selling new equipment, which in the case of emissions reduction technonogly, is inferior in performance ( both fuel and regular ) to the last generation of vehicles.
