Matthews....there wasn't a "pissing" contest between you and I. If you remember, my ONLY post(s) to you (re: Petition) was that the FORMAT you chose to use for it was unacceptable and was really a waste of time, because anyone who can "do anything" would ignore it simply because it is IMPOSSIBLE to verify that the "signatories" on "WEB-Based" petitions are actual people. I gave you SPECIFIC reasons why and EXACTLY what was REQUIRED on a PETITION. I said that in order for a PETITION to be VALID it had to meet minimum requirements: PRINTED NAME, SIGNATURE, HOME ADDRESS (Street, City, [sometimes County too] State and Zip), the signors can ONLY be registered voters and there can be no more than 25 signors per sheet.
Unfortunately; Online Petitions DON'T meet these minimum requirements because they have no place to affix a valid signature and there is no way to verify that those signing it are actual persons, and not one person signing it using other's names or fabricated names.

I used to have a link for the specific instructions for filing a petition in Michigan, but I can't now find it. And those "types" of rules are pretty generalized throughout the US.

But anyway, after I gave you this information, what did I get? You claimed that I "didn't care" about my employer, and I would soon "be out of work", not ONCE, but several times in more than one thread.

I NEVER stated that I didn't believe in what you were doing, and I am sorry that you misunderstood what I was saying. So, if you want to do something that those in power will ACTUALLY look at, you have to jump thru THEIR hoops.

    5mouths2feed and everyone else:

What makes corporations evil? What makes corporations greedy?
Is not the goal of business to turn a profit?

    Who are the corporations?

If you have a pension plan/401K your retirement is invested in those corporations that many of you denigrate. The accusations of the Greedy Shareholders and Greedy Board members are over the top. It surprises me that some O/O's buy into this false belief that the "Man is out to get us". It's the 21st century people. Truckers can possess the knowledge of Economics 101 and beyond. We have access to vast pools of knowledge, why not use the computer to to do so instead of watching You Tube or playing video poker.

    For example:

Is PACCAR a greedy and evil corporate entity because they manufacture a product and sell that same product for what the "market will bear"? In case many of you haven't noticed, the price of rigs have fallen since last year. I have found many brand new 387's under $110K, loaded.

Why? The demand is down and hardly anyone is buying. If PACCAR is so evil and greedy, the price would have increased but it has not. The market dictates the price.

Taxes on fuel are absurd, I agree, but fuel has been taxed since the beginning. The part that I'm fuming about is that particularly here in CA, our fuel taxes are supposed to go to maintaining highways, but they are not. The money goes straight to the General Fund and from there right into the education pit where waste and misuse are the rules; and yet California's children place 49th in education and have done so since the 90's. Talk about evil, talk about waste...

If you want to assign blame to anyone, then blame congress. Congress passes laws that prevent us from being self-sufficient. Congress is where the real greed exists in this country.

Yes there is corporate greed, but not every corporation is an Enron and not every corporate officer is a Ken Lay. Every corporation or officer who has committed wrong eventually gets caught, people go to jail. Some corporations are just like mine...a mom and pop business if you will. Does that make me evil and greedy, just because my goal is to turn a profit?

Stop blaming corporations for the problems that our government created.

todays "leaders" just throw money around, thats why there is a fruad, waste and abuse hotline....

tax money taxed for one reason and used on anouther is nonsence
in mt they raised our tobacco tax by around 150% three years ago for edjacation...i was ok with that...now they want to raise it anouther 150% becuase they screwed around with the money and it didnt get where it needed to go...im not ok with it

ok so set rates that we all can live by....but how?
$1.75/m is ok for van....but would it fit reefer, flat or speciliezed??
    this will get complicated folks
and how do we assure that everyone is complying with said agreement?
what would be the penalties of violating said agreement?
how is this not gonna turn back into government regulation?

believe me im not trying to bash any ideas....i dont like the thought of a strike any more than anyone else.....but we need to do something folks

and make it liveable and agreeable to all parties involved

we've got some very bright poeple here on this board....im sure we can figure it out as a group

    as to the petition....

can we not make it printer friendly, with a single signiture line and just have everyone print it out, sign it and mail it to a certian address by a set date?

10,000 pages , i would think is more intimidating that 20

and surely we can all afford the price of a sheet of paper, and envolope and a stamp

Yes corporations are in business to make as much profit as possible just like you and I. However, it is the rediculous Bonuses that upper management recieves for cutting the throats of the working man that I am refering to. Outsourcing labor, reducing benefits, cutting shipping cost etc. This is the corporate greed I am refering to and the goverrnment did not create this. Lazy Americans that want huge returns on their stock investment, expecting a free ride on the backs of the working man is the cause of this.

I am not making this up and just laying blame. This is based on research from Professional market analyst.
My signiture clearly states my position on ignorant, unfounded statements made without merit.

Btw, Here's another reason why crude is high and why OPEC assigns blame on us. Most investors pulled out from securities in the last two quarters. Some are holding on to the cash (not the wisest move) and some have purchased contracts such as crude oil futures. This buying of contracts or speculation causes the demand months out. As the U.S. economy improves, watch for these lazy investors to pull out of oil and return to securities.

Again I would urge us to concentrate our efforts on the members of congress to change the mindset of America in regards to extracting our oil. The evil oil companies have the technology to extract crude safely and environmentally conscientious as well. I have been on many "leaks" in my day. Oil companies do not waste a friggin' drop of product or crude.

Oil is a safe investment and so is gold at the moment.

I wish that each and every one could have the inclination to become educated on how the market works instead of watching the "talking Heads" on the tube or reading the paper and reacting to their educated opinions.

If you can do research on the best tractor or the best company to sign on, certainly you're' intelligent enough to read a book or visit websites that explain how our markets work in relation to our economy. Knowledge is your best friend whether or not you went to college or not. You can read and become knowledgeable. There are plenty of publications that break down the knowledge for anyone to comprehend and put that knowledge into practice.

Instead of griping about how the "man" is out to get you. Learn the rules of the game and learn how to play the game.

Heh, maybe I'm just preachin' to the choir.

Whether or not any of you believe this but, you do have control over your own lives. You don't have to place your welfare and your future in the hands of others. There is a lot of work and quite a lot of responsibility when you take over your life.

    Just a MINOR correction:

MOST corporations are "mom and pop" businesses.
