You're sure right about that! Then they always clog up the shoulder exiting the Interstate instead of the entrance shoulder. In the morning when they get ready to go, the never just roll through the scale or through the rest area. They just plow right back in the flow of traffic with no build of speed. The craziness is real.

Maybe it will only cost 1-10 million dollars per parking spot created and most spots will be in the middle of the most rural states.

Kind of hard to set up a relay in a one truck operation.

Because drivers are afraid sleep in the bears' den!

I've done it when necessary, but the thought that you have to go over the scales again is a little bit unnerving. But not as unnerving as worrying that you'll get hit on the ramp!

    My goodness.
    2 things.....
Thing #1, if you're running legal, what's the problem?
Thing #2, every rest area / scale you never had to go back over the scale again. Maybe it's different in different states, but every one I ever stopped at was after the scale.

#1 I agree with you, but they can always find something if they want to. I make it a point for them not to want to take it out on my by being cooperative and agreeable.
#2 In Indiana and Kentucky the exit crosses the scale, but see my answer to #1

Problem with this is even in the day and age of very accurate record keeping (mostly from ELD's) there is no excuse to pay by the mile and companies refuse to pay by hour. This relates to your post because its' mostly a driver complaint for relays. What driver wants to wait for 4 hours to get loaded, drive 5 hours, and then wait another 3 hours for a relay. Plus trucking companies will refuse to pay for a relay lot so will just clutter up the truck stop as they do now.

Let's see them add a bunch of parking spaces around LA and NYC.
That'll be a sight to behold.
