been a company driver 10 years and wanting to get my own truck..was approved for financing at $4500 down and $1475 per month for 32 months on an 07 century with a pretty good motor and drive train warrenty..I have a company willing to put me on pulling containers and they say the drivers make anywhere from $1400 -$2600 per week after fuel and fees...I have never pulled containers, mostly pulled dry van so if it doesn't work out and i dont like it I will probly go back to pulling van ,my question is..is $1475 per month manageable or does it sound to high?

I really dont want to be that negative but 1400$ payment is "little" too high for me, if i go by the income numbers that you posted. My goal will be not more than 1000$ monthly for that old truck 07.When you add up the rest of bills and expenses that you will get, it will be very hard for you to make it. That is just my opinion! Good luck to you!

$1475 a month for a truck to haul containers.....It all depends on the rest of the equation. What are your Living expenses? How much do you have in the bank as a safety net when something breaks? 'cause something will break !!!! Condition of this truck? Tires, type(virgins or recaps) and condition? miles on truck? Any Warranty? Also $1400 a week after fuel is probably the higher end of the the pay scale for container work. A more realistic number is $1200, week after week.

Most of us OTR Drivers would trade our OTR position for a $1400 to $2600 a week container hauling position if it was out there. We don't go far away from home just because we like to.
