Super b is what we call it. Can gross out at 63.5 tonne...83 feet long and 30 wheels total right there. Net is usually 43 tonne.

Yes, they have them in Australia, sometimes with 3 trailers and even more on large cattle stations away from public roads. But the concept wasn't invented when I was there in the '60s, all ours were drawbar triples, much better in towns than Bs, less cut in on corners. ;-)

Oh you don't need as much room to turn this thing around as you might think. Getting it rolling just takes a lil longer...but once rolling it feels like a 64 tonne marble.

Yes, all I meant was with a B setup the 2nd trailer is on a 5th wheel just as the first one is and like any semi setup the trailer wheels immediately try to cut across the corner.

But with drawbars, connected to the first trailer by a pin and eye, any overhang of the 1st trailer causes an outward swing of the tail of that trailer which drags the eye of the 2nd trailer outwards away from the corner before finally following it round. Therefore less cut in. ;-)

The best example of a drawbar setup to real advantage, is a really long drawbar with 2 tipper trailers. A good man can reverse so that the first trailer jacknifes the 2nd one so that both can be tipped alongside each other at the same time. Never seen it done in real life but I would jump at the chance to have a go myself, just for the hell of it and to satisfy a never-too-old-to-be enquiring mind, :D

Working late last night. It was decided with the storm coming in we need to deliver the Friday Georgia load on Thursday night. Had to catch a non stop direct flight down to make that work.

Thankful this truck is a glider.

Did I ever mention I'm getting too old for this ?!?

Cummins is out of the Silver Seeder. Sitting on the shop floor waiting til there is enough time to put it back together. Coolant line cracked, and ran it hot. One piston has a fine looking hole in it!
