I spent a couple years running a spotter truck at Hormel/QPP. If you think what you smelled was bad, ask for a tour inside door 72 at QPP.:pukeleft::pukeright:

Never mind. I had three screens open and hit the wrong button. I figured you, of all people, wouldn't drive that toxic mess.

I work at a 200 truck company and we have one guy that does recoveries “full-time”. He’s basically a slip seat driver that doesn’t have an assigned truck and lakes and adventure. Plus he collects a ton of airline miles and makes a little extra money from the company.

Most of his recoveries are from one yard to another. We have dedicated guys who can’t leave their customer And drive across the country to pick up a new truck. So he delivers a new truck to them and takes the old one back to the main yard. He also recovers trucks from guys that Have quit or left on medical and usually takes them back to the main yard.

We used to just fly new hires to one of our yards to get them their truck. Occasionally we still do in a pinch, but some new hires think that’s unreasonable.

if the truck is in an accident, our shops not going to fix it. Doesn’t make any sense to tow it across the country to get it fixed.

As for this situation I do agree that there’s absolutely no ####ing way I would drive a truck in that condition. And the dip #### behind the desk that’s threatening a drivers job over not picking the truck up should be strung up out back.

That truck should be professionally detailed before anyone picks it up. And the driver that goes to pick it up should be compensated for their time waiting for that to happen.

The issue is at some point somebody is required to clean up that mess, so do they get one of the company drivers to do it, or an outside source? I know the feeling though the other day I had to pick up a truck that had been left on the side of the road as the driver had not put enough fuel in the tanks and ran out of fuel, it was also a mess I refused to clean it up, and just drove the truck in parked it up and left a little note there for the regular driver. For all those that don't like camera's this is great for trucks that do have them as it shows the mess inside and you won't get the blame for it.

I used to Like the smell of the Cattle Farm (and Piggly wiggilies?) on I-10, Texas, West of El Paso.
Smelled the same at night and day, but heat made it better. It was a sort of "wake up" Scent 'specially rolling East!!
"Scent" didn't give a hankerin' for any crackers or cheese.

After the El Paso Truck Stop folded, I rarely stopped (except when traffic demanded) in The Pass.
    CHEERS!!

Most of them probably do have a pigsty dwelling somewhere. This guy likely had no other shack but his truck. I always feel bad for the house keeper girls at motels. A "guest" checks out and the room looks like a satchel charge went off in it.
I don't mean to brag, and I'm not a neat freak by any means. When I stay at rented digs, I tidy and sweep up every day. I usually take the trash out before the girls hit my room. My bathroom especially is always spotless. When I check out, I put all the towels in one place in the sink counter, not strewn on the floor. I still try to leave them a few bucks, but I always worry about their supervisor or crooked maintenance man coming in first and pocketing it.
