Is this the advised truck route from I40 west to Las vegas?

Or would it be better to tack on the miles and and go into Cali and hit US95 north.

It's my first time in my 5 years of drving that I get to do this route and I'm pretty excited, but not so sure about proper routing. tia!~

I believe the new bridge is open just south of Hoover Dam. If so, You can stay on 93 north. No need to divert to 95.

you can get into Vegas on the new bridge, but coming back south the town of Boulder makes you take the detour and long way around from 8AM to 5PM. I think it is because they don't want the truck traffic in town when it is busy, and there is still some construction going on. The restriction may be removed after the construction ends?

Yes the by pass is open. Trucks are welcome. Even hazmat. How ever the southbound has a truck restriction in boulder city. From 8am to 5pm while they rebuild a road that should have been done while the dam was closed to trucks for 10 years!

Ah, I know it well. I-40, exit 48 (US 93) north past the T/A all the way to Vegas. Haven't been there in about 10 months, so this restriction (8-5pm) is news to me. However, when they opened the new bridge, south bound traffic was suffering coming thru Boulder City, because Nevada didn't plan ahead. All the dam traffic comes from Vegas and it backs up worse than pre-new bridge days, especially on weekends.

Other food for thought, hwy 68 west from US 93, thru Laughlin, you have about a 10 mile 6% downgrade with 2 escape ramps. So if you're heavy or have junky equipment or minimal experience driving, take heed. And FYI, just north of US 95/93 jct, you can park at Railroad Pass Casino/hotel if you want to map out your delivery before going into Vegas. Truckstops in Vegas on I-15, exit 33,46 and 50 something (Petro). Some casinos have truck parking, but you'll need to find them. Orleans comes to mind.

That was back in June and applied to southbound traffic only. The Boulder bypass is suppose to be completed by late fall before the holidays.

I'm sure he's already in Vegas playing blackjack.

The 8am-5 pm PST M-Sat restriction on southbound trucks between Boulder City and the Nevada mile marker 2 on HWY 93 is still in effect. The news reports this week say that the road work will be completed by Nov. 22. Construction crews are working almost 24/7 now to make this schedule. The road in Boulder City is complete, the current work is from MM 2 to about MM 5. There are no restrictions on northbound trucks on HWY 93.
