My temp gauge reads 30 degrees low. I checked housing where sensor is located with temp gun to verify gauge is off. Did you check temps everywhere on cooling system with temp gun?

You got a new truck and it isn't working right?

    Seriously?

Actually I work under a different type of philosophy, the truck is my money maker and I fix it to keep making money. So that's wrong with many of us fleet owners.

If you own a '99 or new truck, the best way to check it is to hook it up to a computer and see what the ECM is seeing. The gauge on the dash is just an indicator of what the ecm or the sensor is seeing, the ecm controls the fan and other things like overheating protection.

Well from day one I drove it off the lot my gauge never moved so I don't know the temp, I am ok with it like that because if it gets too hot the red light would come on, know if it was to get very Cold no I would not know about it,

That would be my thought as well. OP not saying whether heat in cab is working well. Anything below 150 not going to provide much heat.
I don't put winter front on until -20 and thats really only for keeping heat up during my midnight 1 hour nap

The way I see it is like this if I take it to the dealership and yes they would fix it no cost to me, but what if there a temp to fix it makes worse,

You've had a number of good replies.

My concern is that you are eating a gallon of coolant about every week or so. You haven't identified any leaks, BUT that doesn't mean there isn't a leak.

Do you have white smoke coming out the exhaust, especially at start up or when giving full throttle? If so your leak might be going into the engine. Coolant doesn't play well with oil or diesel. That's at the more expensive and down time intensive range of issues.

Get your engine washed. Then check for that tell tale strawberry spattering after running for an hour or so. Crawl under with a flashlight. Look at everything.

My brother had similar issues. It took him a couple of engine washes, another two gallons of coolant, and lots of time looking. He finally found it. The bottom of the radiator had a teeny tiny crack.

Sometimes pressure testing won't find a leak because the pressure expands the metal and seals it. Take the pressure off, like parking without idling overnight, and that's when you see a small puddle of coolant.

I just replaced my radiator last week. Temperatures are back to normal. In my case the leak was from a crack around the hose that returns to the reservoir. JB Weld barely held it together until I could get back home to my favorite mechanic.

gotta love jb weld. Found 2 large cracks and several rows leaking in my turbo air cooler. Leaked down 30 psi in about 10 seconds. Major leak. Removed the cooler. Slapped 2 packages of jb weld on there and sealed it up completely for a week until new one came in. pressure tested again just for the hell of it and not one single leak. Jb weld will seal anything as long as you clean and prep it right.
