My 97 Pete w/DD 12.7 pre egr suddenly shuts off when driving on the hey. Lights come on in the dash as if I had just turned the key to the on position. Wired thing is, it cuts right back on pretty darn quickly And then the lights go off like nothing happened. When this occurs I do feel the accelerator go dead for a split second.anyone have any ideas what this might be?

e.c.m. wiring problem.in battery box look for small, fused wires.check for corrosion/loose connections.if not there, you will have to follow those wires all the way to the ecm.good luck.

power or ground wire to ECM 90% of the time it's power wire inside the battery box.( I assume you are talking about a 378/379 model)

I had this same problem on a 96 Pete 379. The problem ended up being a bad wire connection on the back of the fuse box. I do not remember which wire it was ,I am thinking it was the ignition wire. The mechanic found it by moving the wires one at a time until it lost connection. If I remember right it was the wire end that connected to the fuse panel.Hope this helps.

Sorry I took do long to reply but I had trouble logging in for some reason. You were absolutely right. It seems that when I took a look at the battery box there were 2 extremely loose cables, including one that had the wire with a small fuse on it that goes to ecm. I tightened everything up and it alleviated the problem. I haven't had any problems since. Thank you everyone for your input, and time. Saved some money on this one. Lol. Yeah
