Glad you're okay, Perf. Sorry about the truck.
But I just have to ask, for the benefit of the bashers....

Quote.... "I was going less than 30 and came out of near white-out conditions to see stopped truck in front of me. If I had known the road surface was a sheet of ice" You couldn't tell that was a sheet of ice? Are you kidding? You did a good job by avoiding a collision with someone but it all looks like a severe case of "follow the leader" that always happens in the winter. One guy catches another affraid to pass and this repeats itself until 15 or 20 are all lined up in a pretty line nose to tail until somebody screws up and if i had to guess that is exactly what happened here one screws up and all others are following to close to stop.
Giggles the Original, JustSonny and montana cowboy Thank this. -
some lucky tow truck is going to be making a pile of money on that mess
at least looks like nobody was hurt--other than messy boxers -
if you look at the spacing--looks like most wernt following too close
TruckrsWife Thanks this. -

AND as I stated, it was caused by the FIRST driver sliding-off. I think the secondary collision was caused by following too close, but I am not responsible for other's driving; just my own.
I had a choice.........right side ditch which would have probably resulted in an up-set, hit the guy in front of me, or try for the ditch in the middle. I did not panic, buy quickly made the best decision I could.
Would you have done as well?
I should note that this is my first REAL accident, not including getting backed into at truck-stops (three times), getting sideswiped by a drunk driver in Ontario California and another ####### running a stop sign and getting T-boned in Michigan.rocknroll nik and lydialonghaul Thank this. -
I take it your ride could be driven away, yes? Then it's just a tow bill for you, not a DOT-reportable.
Ummm... Good Job!
Betcha leave more room next time!! -
What am I supposed to do, STOP every time someone passes me? -
sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omlet... good save.
rocknroll nik Thanks this.
