So big-rigs generally have better factory systems than cars? I didn't know that...I would have assumed they would have been the same.

THey know that drivers live their lives in these boxes. And that the motors are a bit louder than a honda.

I did buy my own radio from www.bigrigstereo.com and swapped it for the stock radio in my company truck that did not have an auxiliary input. But it was plug and play, no wire cutting. The factory model is still stored in the truck and can be put back in place in just a few minutes.

I can understand spending money and putting in effort for a Mustang, or even a T-Bird for that matter. But an Escort? I was in 10th grade in 1987 and I remember Escorts being my generation's "Gremlin." No offense, but am I the only one that thinks a tricked-out Escort is lame?

Again, no offense. Just having a blast from he past.

I ran the shop, we had a number of different vehicles we tricked out, Bronco II, some mini trucks, van, escort, infinity Q45, Suziki Sidekick....

Lots of different vehicles demonstrating lots of possibilities. When you sat in the escort you could see exactly none.of the 14 speakers. Custom door panels held three each, the center channel was hidden behind the custom console that held the two Nakamichi head units, and the Fosgate Preamp. The factory speaker locations were utilized but as i suggested in the other post, the 6x8's (that is not a mistype) were replaced with 5 1/4 mids and 1" soft dome tweeters. Hidden behimd the factory speaker cover.

The point was to show even an escort could be upgraded without pimping it.

I have seen some of the wildest stereos in some of the most unassuming cars. It was a business.

My vehicle in high school was a "hand-me-down" 77 Buick Electra. I thought I was walking in High-cotton when I got an Alpine cassette deck and a pair of 6x9's from radio shack to replace the 8-track that came with it. My hobby in high school was smoking grass so I guess I missed out on the cool stereo stuff.

I miss that car. Miss the grass even more........

My car during my senior year was a 1983 Oldsmobile 98 Regency sedan. My friends called it the boat. Total 80s luxury. Pillow soft seats, cigarrette lighters in the back. I swear you could fit two bodies and still have room for your luggage in that trunk.

Smallblock V8 with 2 bbl carb. Easy to fix.

Today I'm afraid to touch anything in my HHR, LOL

What kind of music do you listen to? Volvos have the best stock radios from what I have seen.
