When my g/f and I shut down out in the booneys where there are no services (i.e. Alaska, or other wooded areas), we have showered on the tractor catwalk. Pin a towel across each side between the truck and reefer which provided a little privacy if someone drove by, and we just helped each other by pouring the water when it was time to rinse the soap off. Plus being naked with a woman on the catwalk makes things exciting!

For the most part are truck stops safe places?

Don't depend on pilot or FJ unless you get there before the sun goes down anywhere. Unless it has more than 150 spots it fills up quick. Toll plazas in the NE fill up quick as well unless your in Ohio them they're huge. Parking above Virginia just say a prayer and make more than one option to park anywhere. Walmarts an what not I just don't like going off the beaten path to find one. Unless its a US highway or back road then ill hit one of those. If the exit in said city has more than one XL or L truck stop on the same exit then better your chances. Petros and TA offer most parking and p-lots and FJ fill up first anywhere. Loves just sucks and wilco Hess I'm growing to love. Mom and pop stops are good if they're 24 hrs and most rest areas have ample room. If I can park at a terminal or shipper or con then I grab food if I have none and stay there. It's more productive that way. When the time changes then places will fill up earlier or later depending on the year. Sorry if I repeated just to tired to read everything.

For a new driver which are usually the best spots to try and park in? I would assume away from other trucks and the pull through spots if available?

Yea I think I should have been more specific. I guess any open spot at a T/S is a fair answer but I am more curious since I will be new at driving around in T/S should I try and park away from everybody?

Try to run 2am to 6 pm. Winter I ran 6pm to 8am. Much simpler in winter, trust me.

I have a feeling I am going to be one to drive from like early morning like 4 or 5 AM to early evening if the schedule allows.

I don't have that problem very much since I mostly run at night. Proper trip planning is key but things don't always go as planned so you have to be flexible in certain situations. I if they allow sleep at shippers/cosignee or like one person said industrial parks tend to be alright. It comes down to being familiar with that area at times also. A lot of our customers i've been to numerous times so i'm already a\prepared to where I can and can't park. You'll learn but every situation will be different.
