Hi,
I am not a trucker but working on a project related to trucks. Does anyone know how truck stops in NY and FL accommodate LCVs? Is there designated parking spaces for LCVs (e.g., turnpike doubles). If there are, do you need to reserve these in advance? What are the difficulties encountered when parking LCVs?
Thanks!

The only place I in Florida where turnpike doubles run...is on the turnpike, and the service plazas have plenty of room for them. As for trying to park a turnpike double in a truckstop, the parking would be hard to come by, tho taking a pull thru and using to spot behind would work, but this point is moot since ya cant drive the interstate system with two 45ft trailers.

The service plazas in NY have spaces for them, marked as being for them alone. But normally they are filled with normal tractors faster than some of the single spots. So there really is nowhere for the doubles to park.
Same with the spots set aside for oversize trucks. -
Thanks Magnum and ChromeDome... this is helpful information!

in NY most towns on the turnpike have a dropyard where these guys drop one trailer and the converter gear while they go in the town to make deliveries (cause you cant take a turnpike double into a town like that), while *we* arent allowed to be in there....i betcha they could park there without gettin in trouble if they're authorized to use that yard!
