Lisa's is still good. Not as good as it used to be, but still decent. The Wagon Wheel is GOOD, as always.

Stephanie's Cafe 77th and Hwy 85 Commerce City, Co, across from Bruckner Mack. There's parking on the median in front of the place for 2 or 3 trucks, if you park properly and not like an idiot, 5 or 6 can fit in back, just be there early (they open at 5), from 8am to 1pm the lot can get full. Reasonable prices, really good food.

I've stopped here twice now on trips between Houston and Laredo, Texas on highway 59. Easy truck parking on the dirt lot surrounding the place.
The chicken wings (which come with fries) are purty good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, only Buffalo and lemon pepper flavors are available. Next time, I plan to order plain wings and supply my own bbq sauce.
This visit, I tried the cheese dipping sauce with the chips. Wasn't impressed. Had better queso elsewhere. I ordered the pound of chicken fajitas. The chicken was good, but there were no grilled onions and peppers, so I had to ask for some. It was an improvement, but needed a sauce or glaze.
The service is always good and the place is popular with the locals. Am looking forward to my next visit.

I still have spiral notebook with restaurants that I could stop off and park.
Food was always pretty good. If it wasn’t, word spread quickly.
The Wagon Wheel was always a go to and so was Moriarty.Lav-25, Flat Earth Trucker, kemosabi49 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Parking is directly across the street at the Pilot in Nevada, Missouri right off I-49.
Sometimes, when something dies, it turns out for the best. In this case, the old Perkins restaurant has been made into Buzz's barbecue. The burnt ends are quite good and the staff is friendly.Last edited by a moderator: Dec 2, 2024

Love's in Nowata, OK has a BBQ trailer setup next door permanently. Slightly under spiced, but far better than the chain restaurants that think a pinch of brisket and Luke warm coleslaw is a 25 dollar meal.
It won't impress Gordon Ramsey, but it's the clog your arteries kind of good

Panther's Hwy 105 Conroe, Tx. There's a little Mexican restaurant connected to the truck stop. The food is amazing. It's also surprisingly well priced. Those little stops usually hit you pretty hard in the billfold but they were very reasonable.

I can't believe nobody mentioned Tiger Truck stop exit 139 on I-10 in LA. Really good authentic cajun food there. The only truck stop in the country that can claim a woman bit the testicles of a camel they used to have on site after the tiger died.
Kinsman, gerardo1961, hotrod1653 and 3 others Thank this.
