I personally feel that there should be some kind of mandate where companies who run LP programs have to cover repairs and pause-payment if the truck is in the shop for more than 3 days. It's basically a scam anyway. Buy the truck for 60k and make 300k off of it because 10 people walked away from the busted piece of equipment.

Does Kevin even talk about trucks anymore? I quit listening to him after that super truck he was talking about grenades and then he refused to talk about it and starting pushing some other snake oil stuff. He used to have alot of good advice, but he went the way of Dave Nemo IMO

Just like anything else ; READ THE FINE PRINT ! Know what your getting involved in . I cannot stress this enough , if the lease absolutely marries you to the company under any and all circumstances this is exactly the risk you run getting involved with it. On the other hand if such a scenario was mentioned in the agreement that for example the truck was inoperable due to circumstances beyond your control or the leasing entity could not for example provide a minimum # of loaded miles compared to dead head miles at a minimum rate on a say quarterly basis than this would be a breach of contract and you would not be liable for any resulting loss and naturally there would have to be a commitment on your end as well. Otherwise they are not risking anything and you are risking everything . Again ; READ THE FINE PRINT ! My advise to him would be : if they have company trucks ask to be allowed to become a company driver until his truck is back in service , they might oblige him ? Otherwise the only protection for something like this is insurance , you can buy insurance for this type of eventuality although I have never purchased this type of insurance so I cannot speculate on what rates would likely be.

i think way too many newbies jump into a lease, cuz they were sick and tired of being an employee, and getting pushed around.

then too, many want to be in business for themselves.

it would be to everyone 's benefit, to take that lease agreement to a lawyer, for his/her opinion on the lease deal.

however, i cannot say how many companies would ,allow that paperwork to leave the premises.

what it boils down to is, "the ignorant will still be pushed around all over again"....

Just heard on tv news, major shortage of drivers in the trucking industry, their answer or whoever"they"are,is to lower the interstate driving age from 21(I thought it was 23)to 18,I believe a better idea would be to offer more money, but unfortunately that's never going to happen.Same old story let's drag in more inexperienced people and pay them less money, get rid of older, more experienced drivers and save money.Granted it's not every company doing that but it sure seems to be becoming the norm.

When I was down for surgery, my leasing company worked with me to rewrite the terms and push off the lease payments. I'd attempt the same thing for any major down time.

I’ve been making more money then I have ever made in trucking. $10,000 sign on bonus. Many weeks take home over $2,000 a week. Looking for my first $3,000 a week paycheck. Plain old company driver regional to the south so never have to touch snow or ice. Was just thinking I would hate to have to go back to work again ...
