Truck tire repair, specifically in the sidewall? Is it possible?

Yeah you might be able to find a tire shop that can do a section repair on it. Basically cut out a section and vulcanize a new piece in. Not sire it would be worth the cost on a truck tire

Call around, some tire places use to section a sidewall. It may be cost prohibitive now days. The blue triangle as someone mentioned is a side wall section repair. But
Haven’t heard of it done in a number of years. Maybe to much liability anymore.
After all we have disposable society anymore. Sad really

Yeah, it's called "sectioning" in the recap biz. I hauled enough RR cans with tube tires to know, I saw plenty of tires with a big chunk "welded " in. I think if the cords aren't damaged, it's an okay fix, I'd never trust them, and like others say, just get another tire. Isn't trucking fun?

The problem with section repairs is it's not something you can just get done ASAP like plugging a tire. Usually retread shops are busy covered up with work a few days or even weeks out. Ultimately they cost too much, are not worth the hassle, and most likely that tire will end up failing. Better off just biting the bullet junking that tire and getting a new one.

I never had much trouble with section repairs on virgin casings. Never have a casing capped that has been or needs a section.
Time is a major problem as rollin coal said. If you have a local tire recapper that is also a new tire seller check with them. They might give you a $100 or something for it toward the new tire purchase.
