Why do you care what a company truck's axles look like, if the company itself doesn't care enough about their equipment to keep it clean?

Well, I am still going to wash my truck when I feel it needs it. Same way I'll take a shower when I feel I need it, whether it's "free", or not.

Well, I happen to take pride in what I do, and drive. I drive a company truck, and Penske is supposed to wash it at least once a month. But the local one does a crappy job. So I'll wash it myself, either on company time, with a hose alongside the shop, or take it to a Penske in another town, where the fuel guy says "yeah, help yourself" to their wash bay.
But then I also wax the outside, armour all the tires, shine the hubcaps, etc. Not because I have to, or someone expects it. I do what's right for me.

Two completely different things, but while I'll pay for a shower, I'm not going to pay for a wash.

So what your saying is you never inspect your truck? But hey, if Knight doesn't care why should you, until you lose an axle or tandem and they roll into a church van and kill a bunch of people.

You speak so highly of Knight, why are you still there? You know how to run a company
why don't you buy your own truck and do it? I bet you get a whole new outlook on operating a truck, not just sitting behind the steering wheel.

You gotta be kidding me. I pre-trip the truck, but what I don't do is wash the axles or care what it looks like as long as there isn't any problems with the tractor. I used to wash off the 5th wheel and clean the brakes adjusts before each service, but once they turned off the pressure washer, I am not going to spend MY MONEY fixing/washing THEIR TRUCK.

If you can not understand the difference between washing someone else's truck with your money, and doing a pre trip then we have nothing else to discuss.

As for working for Knight, it's a job, and I do it, quite well from what the office tells me, don't know how, all I do is move freight in a timely manner and never am late. Maybe I'm not late because I'm not spending my time washing and waxing a truck that I get slipseated in, I just drive it?

That may be all you do, but some of us out here go above and beyond and have respect for the people we work for and with and respect for the equipment they entrust us with. I for one do not want to give an impression of laziness and slovenliness when I pull into a customer or scale or truck stop. I believe the extra effort on my part pays off in the end.

So I will keep doing my part and you can linger in mediocrity. :biggrin_25525:

Allright bucko, you really want to go there? Pulling pics of wrecked trucks? And why don't you put your age or how long you been driving a truck up on your profile? Something to hide? I can guarantee I have been, currently am and always will be a much better Truck driver than you ever will be as a steering wheel holder.

Take your "me first" attitude and drive into a brick wall, will ya?
