The extreme top coat from the chemical guys is a solid wax, I do like it. But that’s a pretty heavy wax. That’s a once a year type wax. Plus it takes like 4-5 hrs to wax the entire truck with that stuff. When your done it does last for months.

Big_D409 what colors do you usually use when cutting your aluminum? I go with Brown, light green, and blue. Reason I ask is I see some sorta Dark green that polishers are using now, suppose to be a topcoat shine. Never used it, and I dunno if it works any better then my Blue rouge topcoat.

Tug Toy and Big_D409 Thank this.

@Largecar359 ive been using their Jetseal every 6 months (I’d bet it could go a year) then the topcoat. I love how it gives a deep gloss on the white, but you’re right it doesn’t have to be done that often. Have 5 gal of it from when they had one of their sales a few years back.

The aluminum I have been using the kit that Evan Stegar sells. Personally I haven’t gotten as rich a shine as if you add the white wheel and blue bar, but it still lasts about the same.

With applying the wax I’ll use a 7” buffer and slowest speed. The cure time I’ll wait 30 minutes then wipe away. I did just get some of that new Turtle Wax sealant today and their ceramic wash so I’ll be curious how it’ll hold up.

Ok cool, looks nice. I will just stick with the blue bar on the aluminum. I’m happy with it and have been using it for years. It tends to give the dark luster that I like. Unfortunately, we are in late December right now in the northeast so no polishing or waxing until spring. And once spring does come it will be a tough cutting, high speed, finger cramping road back to dark lustered aluminum. Winter is the absolute worst thing for polished aluminum.

I was never a big blue beacon fan, just better truck washes in my opinion.
That said we are lucky enough to have to wash our rigs after every trip, and I would love it if there was a blue beacon or any other truck wash that we could use, even if it cost 150 bucks a pop.

I don't know about every body, but I finally tired of worrying about polishing and just used acid every now and then, I finally powder coated my wheels and tanks, and when I start putting my truck back together, plan to paint the headache rack on it too.

Only time I use acid is when stripping the wheels down to sand/polish them

other then that I start with simple green on the engine/trans/rears with hot water, then I use a mild brightener (chem-x) the wheels, battery box, tank etc on cold water, then I grab the hose and do the cab/bunk with just soap and water

The chemx stuff I use is supposed to be touch less but still needs a mit run over it, definitely cleans a lot better though

Yeah even with the Image Wash Products it’s best to give her a little mitt action on the paint. On the frame, I just get the pressure washer as close as the instructions say and it does decent work.
