YORKTOWN -- A Yorktown Middle School student waiting for her school bus was approached by a semi-truck driver on Ind. 32 Monday morning, school officials confirmed Thursday. According to Mary Ann Irwin, superintendent of Mount Pleasant Township Community Schools, the driver of a black semi-truck pulled over and beckoned the girl to come over to him. The girl didn't respond, and the man drove away when he saw the school bus approaching, Irwin said.
The girl told her parents about the incident Monday evening. Her parents reported the incident to the middle school principal the next morning.

School officials then alerted the Yorktown Police Department and advised the parents to contact them as well, Irwin said. A letter was sent to all Mount Pleasant Township Community Schools parents informing them of the incident.
"As soon as the parent reported it to us, we reported it to the police and gave notice to all of our personnel," Irwin said. "We just thought it was prudent to send a note home to be ever watchful at this time of the year." Irwin cautioned that students should immediately report such incidents to adults so police can look for the suspect and their vehicle.
