Even though on a dedicated route, I sometimes have to deliver to PA. I hate delivering to PA and sometimes have been in the same situation as the driver. But I would not have crossed a bridge that said 5 ton gross when I know my truck is atleast 10 ton more than the listed tonage allowed.

As for fines, Feck that! 27k? Outright retarded. Mistakes happen, but a fine so high that it can bankrupt a company...well its just retarded!

I have been routed by company directions along country roads. 10 or 30 miles along there would be a sign for a bridge over a tiny little crick with 10 ton per axle sign! Nothin' but corn as far as the eye can see...

Have you noticed also that the weight limit sign is AFTER the intersection!>? How hard would it be to post the sign before, when you have a choice to turn? Post a sign that says, "10 ton limit ahead". Even Chicago has signs before the highway exits, "...13'5" limit east on 75th street".

I heard that Illinois has a DOLLAR per pound overweight fine. Just heard it, I have no regulations linked...

4 months ago we were hauling grease in tankers from dublin georgie to clearwater florida. georgia is all backroad till you hit the 75 in florida.

30 miles from dublin is a bridge that says 26 tons. that grease haul was a 3 month haul. across that bridge. weighing 80k.

it must have really been something for barney to come and get you are midnight

most of my mistakes occur at night, i try to make sure i arrive under the cover of darkness exactly for that reason

you have more maneuverability when there is no one around

it becomes like a maze sometimes, you miss a turn, i remember one night, trying to get west of doylestown, coming from the north, i forget the town, but i missed the turn. (sign must have been about 3" high) and had to drive about 25miles to find civilization

there was no way of turning around

    PA backroads aint no joke
not like texas, you miss a turn, you can pretty much take any road to get back

    PA can be torture
