Try for the Hope Grant. If you can't get a private CDL school, see what Willis Shaw Express offers. They advertise a free tuition CDL program. Some of those mega-carriers look good, but in reality the money is not good for a family man. I understand Millis drivers make good money & I think you need $500 to sign on for their CDL program; worth checking though, check the website.

I think Roehl puts new hires on regional. Schneider puts some on dedicated accounts when they have openings. Personally, I wouldn't run regional or dedicated; can't stand the routine.tlock65 Thanks this.

I know what you mean.Im on dedicated and its like its so routine and at times so boring. When companies hire for regional or dedicated, don't you have to live in those lanes for that position?
-
Does ppl make good money 7 on and 7 off?
-
Yea, thats what I have been discovering as well. But, one of the companies @chinatown listed has some positions where student drivers can get right on to a dedicated regional route. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the company was Maverick, but I would have to relocate to their area to get the job, which isn't that bad to me I don't like living in Macon lol.

And I know the school I
m currently attending has a Commercial Truck Driving program and I could get the Hope Grant for the school and they also have a special financial aid specifically for the program which is an extra $1000 towards the cost and all that plus, I could get student loans so I may check into that and see if that's the best option for me. -
Look at Ozark also. No NYC, no Canada, 100% no-touch freight. Don't know about the weekly pay though.
CHill0922 Thanks this. -
The companies that offer. 7 On 7 off also offer 14 on 7 off or 7 on 3 off. Which may be a better balance of home time and money. Most companies give you 2 days home after 14 days out or something likeep that. more money, but barely see your family.

I googled Ozark and they said they generally only accept experienced drivers but they only said 3 months experience but who knows sometimes I think they'll still hire rookies lol worst they could say is no right? lol but they did seem like a decent company from what I saw
