This is the kind of sentence you’d expect for a serial killer.

Colorado trucker in deadly pileup gets 110 years, gets emotional at sentencing

Yeah he probably deserves punishment. But this was an accident. Not an intentional act. The guy in Colorado goes into a movie theater and shoots dozens of people gets life. And this trucker gets essentially the same sentence. But for an accident in Colorado. Would a 4 wheeler of gotten the same sentence?

He gets what he deserves. The shooter was saved from death penalty because 1 person voted against it.

Killing 5 people should have gotten him 5 consecutive life sentences so he is lucky.

The governor will commute sentence anyways and he'll be called a victim.

Better question: How much training do you think this guy had? Any driver that was taught properly would not have allowed the truck to get out of control. How many trucks go down that grade and didn't kill people? Why do you think that is?

I don't believe it is a "teaching" problem, more like a "learning" ability issue.

110 years is a bit harsh I think.

See I believe in cases like this, instead of throwing him in jail where he'll enjoy 3 square meals a day, funded by taxpayers, he ought to be sentenced to something that would contribute to society. Maybe as a politician - at minimum wage with no benefits or something, I dunno. But I'd bet it would be cheaper for the taxpayers than paying for him to stay in a jail cell for the next 80 or so years.

I am saying, that some folks are not able to gasp and learn no matter what and how much of that "what" they are taught.

He didn’t even understand English he couldn’t read it he couldn’t speak it and under federal regulations you have to be able to understand conversational level English to be able to obtain a CDL but many states are circumventing that rule because they care nothing about what they preach

I'd go for that, only I'd guess he was never taught at all. I've came across guys that get their license, have no real training, and the get out here picking up loads. I made a post some time ago about this very thing, it may even be in this thread. A driver was going down La Veta Pass in Colorado and after he flagged me down, I had to teach him about mountain driving. He did not have that instruction wherever he went to school at. I encouraged him to go to one of the reputable companies that have good training so he doesn't kill himself or others. People want to be so blood thirsty when a fatality occurs,, but never want to go to the root of the issue.
