Did you see the dashcam video???? Never ever was there a better reason to NOT TOUCH YOUR PHONE while driving. This should be required viewing.

Ok so I'll ask the obvious question..........How can a dash-cam be a good thing? All this did was demonstrate the culpability of the company. yes I said "the company" because they employed this guy. The investigation may well have revealed that he was on his phone at the time of the crash but the dash-cam leaves no doubt and makes the company vulnerable to a civil lawsuit. I'm sure the company didn't have this in mind when they put the dash-cams in the trucks. The company I work for has them as well and their response is "it's there to protect you." Yeah right.......What's your thoughts? And oh, God bless the fallen state trooper.

Simply put, the dash cam will capture everything within it's view.
If any violation, negligence, or fault is within it's view it will be documented, for "anyone" to see afterward.
That may end up showing sole fault of a trucker (ie. improper lane usage), a 4-wheeler motorist (ie. cuts too closely in front of truck), or the scene itself (ie. improper/inadequate traffic warnings).
So it all depends on which party is at fault, whether the dash cam will be your "hangman" or your "vindicator".

Sad neglectful tragedy that should NOT have happened.
Condolences to the officer & his family.

    Add:
This video should be a reminder to all truckers, especially new drivers, that this job is about driving professionally, that's it!
Trucking has NO place for texting, video games, or any other senseless distractions.

They already do.....It was around 2005 when they started their out-of-control enforcement. Now every municipality around here has a DOT. Meanwhile non-commercial traffic cruises by at a meer 90MPH with broken taillights, headlights and all kinds of other violations. They're almost never stopped.....Don't get me started!
