I am in Arizona and remember hearing of this crash, I was not aware that Trooper Huffman was killed by a negligent driver that blocked the Dash Cam so it does not show what he is doing! Didn't he know that records can be checked and files can be opened to see when folks were doing what? He couldn't see the other cars on the side of the road? And move over to give them way? I am so sorry to hear of the reasons why this Troopers family doesn't have him or his income anymore. I wish his family well. RIP Trooper Huffman!

So it's about evidence, liability and lawsuits is it? Maybe some other jackwagon truck drivers will see the video and put their phones down as a result. Now we know that trying to block the camera with your wallet doesn't work all that well.

Things would have been much worse had he been loaded.

Yes it is....You can't educate ignorance my friend. Do people not know that drinking and driving is dangerous? Of course they do but they still do it. It's no different here. I've said it before, stop trying to dummy proof trucks with cameras, speed limiters, lane alerts etc. and instead take the dummy out of the driver's seat. This company deserves to be sued. Not because of the dash-cam but because they hired this incompetent fool who took the life of a state trooper.

Yes, that we can agree on. Unfortunately, drivers like you and I command a higher wage than the incompetent fools. So guess who gets the seat?

Also though, how can you tell who is a good driver from a company's standpoint? I agree a lot of the bottom feeders hire anything with a pulse, but who knows. This guy could have been doing this for years just getting lucky and not causing a wreck. How many "good" drivers get hired then do things like this. Company's can't control that, it has to be personal choice and professionalism.

Umm... by putting a camera in the cab and monitoring from time to time?

    Cetane+ Thanks this.

It only takes one time. He had a bad habit and it bit him bad. I can't preach enough about good habits and bad habits. Nobody is exempt.

His cell put him in a cell. Ironic!

I agree that would take care of a lot of the problems. I hate the thought of having a camera pointed at me but I also see their value. Unfortunately professionalism seems to end as soon as most drivers leave the gate
If this guy was on the phone multiple other times while driving, why did the company not catch it?

    RAGE 18 Thanks this.

I just can't believe someone could get into this job and still be so stupid to do something like that. Driving should take all of your attention, why would you even want to divert your focus for one needless second? Its really sad that an innocent person had to loose their life because this guy is a total useless POS.

Talked to a driver once who thought all the info was stored on the phone and that throwing it in the woods would be a solution to having an accident while texting.

    Cetane+ Thanks this.
