I stay in the right lane if some jacka$$ boxes me in. But the law is move over OR slow down. So I slow down if I can't get over. Gotta slow down a lot though, can't just take your foot of the throttle and breeze by. Generally I can still get over a little because there's usually a lot of rubber neckers cobbing up the left lane anyway.

I passed an accident scene just last week in Calgary, AB and there was an LEO standing right there on the shoulder with a laser gun aimed at traffic. This really helped slow them down to 35 KPH. It's amazing to me how people are more likely to slow down to avoid a ticket rather than for safety.

Very tragic. Too bad this is devolving into a snit.

    Huffman never got home.

    Espinoza's life permanently changed.

    As everyone else involved.

Hopefully others in better position will review and recommend better than we can.

I really wish people here knew that... three travel lanes and a cop has someone pulled over on the shoulder and every twit two lanes over hammers the brakes.

Be that as it may, this is still a good reminder to all those who read it that distracted driving is deadly. One of the things I like about threads like this is the the emotional level of involvement really helps drive the point home.

    So don't leave.

If the government really wanted to stop this it would be simple.

Just require phone companies to disable all those features while it is moving over a preset speed. And make the phone so it can only be used with a hands free device while moving.

Ha! I like that, tow. The irony is that Espinoza looks fresh, rested. Crisp, clean shirt. A lot better than most who stumble and drag themselves in a half-stupor into truck stops. No longer buying his own clothes and neither is Officer Huffman.

On the other hand, no one is safe while Congress is in session. Don't forget, tow. We are the government.

I'm a passenger on a plane, train or automobile. Why should I have to suffer for your lack of self-control?

Yeah, that's just what we need, more government hand holding....

    Ask Officer Huffman.

Negligence, criminal irresponsibility = Government regulation

The "leaving" was actually me saying adios to another poster, no biggie. He assumed 180* wrongly.
I had no intention on leaving, but I will leave the thread alone if it resorts to my (presently too high) threshold level of "bickering".
BTW, for those who go by the current browsing user list, since I leave pc on, it's not any indicator.
I may be viewing, sleeping, watching a movie, or 15 miles away getting bee... I mean, vitamin water.

Anyhow, I agree on the situ's where it's often hard to move over for vehicles on shoulder. In this scenario, it appeared to have clear view ahead, and ample time to move over or slow down considerably.
My posts really didn't derive much from any "emotion", as compared to a good bit of past experience in key factors addressed.
But when it reaches bickering, that does raise emotion, I grant you.
