Yes, this situation could have been prevented, if Sojic got in his truck and headed down the highway. He choose to return and further complicate the matter. He choose his destiny.

Spin, twist, misrepresent any way you like. The person who escalated the situation is the one who is no longer with us. For every story like this there are 20 where someone leaves pissed and comes back shooting. Often injuring or killing people who were never involved in any way. From my standpoint the only mistake the shooter made was not complying with a technicality of the law. If you truly believe in all the ways to deal with a situation I'm sure you apply them to law enforcement as well. Under your criteria cops have no reason to be armed.

A "LEO" has the training to carry a fire arm.
A security guard only the "observe and tell"

Thanks for responding, but I think we fundamentally disagree.

Stories like this one serve as a valuable warning to future criminals. This one was pretty simple - don't charge at the man with the gun after you've been warned.

You live in a delusional dreamworld. As a CHP holder and somebody that used to do armed security, you completly out of yoyr mind if you think you have time sit thier analyzing crap and making all thses complex desicions. Once a threat to life is made a force reaction is required. Wether he was certified as an armed guard or not, thats between him and his state/company he was still legally a gun owner. I dont do security anymore obviously but I have a LOT more training than I did then, people have a right to defend themselves. People who have your Outlook are statisically the ones who die firdt when things go bad, hence why security and police are around.
