I agree. Maybe i really should buy that 1979 cabover! LOL. Actually, i wanted it until southern started telling me it was a dragonfly truck, you drag it up the grade and fly down, and someone else saying i better buy barrels of oil, and the fact that the tires are so totally bald on it, and the price of a set of used tires....LOL.

So I'm pulling 42,000 up Elk Mountain the other day, and another heavy truck passes me going by slowly... maybe 5mph over my speed. Some young buck driving a lightly loaded Crete van comes screaming up the hill, and starts cussing the other guy for being "in his f$^k#*g way" on channel 19...
I spent a minute telling him what I thought about that, maybe he ought to grow up and be a man if he was going to be out here doing a man's job. Shut the little bugger right up.
Nah, you're not the only one SouthernPride... I may not have been on the road for very long, but I sure do understand what you're getting at. Somewhere along the line, the world as it is connected to this younger generation is very different from what we grew up with... and IMO, the world view of this younger generation really blows. -
Sounds like that crete driver has never driven an ungoverned truck.
I was trained by an o/o at CRST (originally leased a truck and had actually finished it and bought the truck outright before i ever got on it), truck was ungoverned and hit the rev limiter at 2100 rpm/85 mph indicated on 85 mph speedometer...
He was also an oldtimer, grandfathered into his CDL and all. Refused to run a legal logbook for...no reason at all. But that experience taught me a bit about running up hills...The main thing is, you get going as fast as you think you can get away with before you hit that grade, and you DONT lose any more of that speed than you have to. Doesnt matter if you're pulling 80k and passing someone doing 25 and you're doing 35... well, thats what these TRUCK LANES are for....so cars can still get around you when doing this!
I never could deal with these seat warmers. I meet a truckload of them every time I go to a terminal. They always have some really awesome story about their life, and think they're the best. I had a guy tell me he had a BIG RADIO that got out 60 miles. I told him about my 200 watt amplified radio in my car, and that it gets out 70 miles. hes like, theres no way with 200 watts! I asked what he had....it's a peaked and tuned cobra 29. hahaha.... It's always something like that.
Oh, I was explaining to an older guy about why you should not take the per diem plan with the company and why it is better to claim it on your taxes at the end of the year. Some chick who was not even in teh conversation starts interrupting and #### telling me she used to work for the federal reserve and knows everything there is to know about taxes and that i am totally wrong. She also clearly had no clue about our company's per diem plan....even though this was at a terminal and we all drive for the same idiots.
And the federal reserve is not the irs.
She even tried to say that the company always gives you $52 for every day on the road no matter what you made. I point out that thats illegal if you get laid over and get $40 a day layover pay....she still keeps arguing her case....
I had to walk away so i would not beat her up!!

She also threw a huge whiney fit because someone had a well behaved dog that was not on a leash. Everyone's business was her business. Butted into every conversation. God, i hate werner drivers... -
well dont go around feeling like the lone ranger
others attitudes are why i keep mostly to myself, and talk to a few from this forum, but i think my attitude is just getting sourer..... -
I was just going to say quit WHINING!!!.. kiddin of course!
-
hehe..im getting this way...but i get lonely

Thats why i think im gonna get off the road and get an old cabover to build into a motorhome and get my truckin fix...and start a power washing business... -
So let me get this straight its their fault because you or your company can not get your shait togeather
Just what this industrey needs another driver looking at blaming others
