Trucker transition to a Freight broker in CA with no experience

    I'm inclined to agree with your latter point- I lucked into a small brokerage, and we do alright with our commission structure. It's also why I don't mind exchanging points with you - we work largely in different market segments, with different market forces and demands on them. The likelihood that you and I are competing on the same loads is, I have to say, pretty small.

    Not even a little. I mostly do open deck stuff, with the occasional dry van for a handful of my customers.

    Arrive on time and deliver on time. That's a lot less about having everything go perfectly and a lot more about planning in some #### happens and not making promises you probably can't keep.

    This one is hard to maintain with a small fleet unless you run regional around your house.
