I'm in Minnesota. I'm not sure what you mean by my CDL being "downgraded" or how that would affect me. I haven't heard of that before, but I guess it's possible. All I do know is that I've been very clear every time the license has been renewed that I want to keep my CDL up. The license does have the words "Commercial Driver's License" and it does say it's a "Class A."

Yes, same here in S Dakota. I just need to pass and get a new DOT Medical Card. Then can drive again. Actually I can drive commercially in S Dakota now, but cannot leave S Dakota. That's what he was talking about I am pretty certain. The longer out the less you retain, and the less valuable your CDL will be in getting a job. That's for sure. I should have asked if I can photograph it, attach to an email and send. Hummm? What about the Long Form? So I need to stop by again at the DMV. They don't answer the phones anymore. The examiner or his staff should know the answers you would think. I know don't count on it. Drats.

I kind of wish I could just drive in S Dakota but that would mean 50% physical labor, I mean labor, and the other 50% or less would be driving. I wish I was that young again. You need youth for that job. You really DO. I can only get the 1 year Medical Card as it is. I wouldn't last long on the farm, in the heat it has been. These are HUGE Farms here in S Dakota. You talk about BUST ###. There are grain transporters but low pay, and then almost all have "other" farm work as well. The Quest Continues....

I think the if we look back to 1980, a driver would had to have better skills, better education and you have a lot more responsibility.

because the truth is the trucks in 1980 were manual trucks (meaning they didn’t even have cruise control or a/c) so you had to have good manual dexterity to even get into a truck let alone to drive it, skills to deal with the harshness of the truck and anything to deal with problems on the road and fortitude to live on the road.

as I mentioned trucks now are like driving large cars, literally. I don’t think many drivers, company or even owners can handle doing the same work in a typical truck in 1980. I started to drive in a cab over, no a/c or large condo sleeper.

You guys are all doing it wrong. You should all expat to another country, cross border illegally get on welfare and drive your truck under someone else’s ssn.

110k? Pfttt more like 250k a year if not more.

I got out of the truck with Knight Refrigerated at end of November last year. My CDL expires early next year and my medical is good until next August. I have no tickets or accidents in the last 4 years. The cold reality of why I only work 3 or 4 months is this, "that's a long time to go not being with the wife". Not to mention the disconnect with the family, it's as though you're dead, even with all the technology that connects us, there's no substitute for being there.

So with my CDL expiring early next year and me being overseas "on vacation", I have some hard choices to make. Renew it and drive for some outfit that is sympathetic to my situation or just let it go. I'm not taking the shot to travel internationally, so there's that to complicate the situation. The way I see it, if I leave the Philippines, they may not let me back in unless I'm vaccinated in the future. The word changes so much over here, it's really hard to nail down a plan and follow it now more than ever. Thank you One World Gov't for ruining everyone's life, to one degree or another.

Now let me throw some crazy talk that isn't go crazy, if society does collapse I'd rather go down over here than in the USA, at least I'll die with my nuclear family here. Right, I know it can't happen in America and we are not witnessing a Bolshevik Revolution 2.0 either....right, I got it!

Oh yes. I agree, and agree more. Thank you. Too bad you don't have until 2023 to renew your CDL. That will be after the 2022 elections in November. I really predict a landslide like the Nixon/McGovern election. McGovern only won washington dc, didn't even win his own, his home state. My wife and I have gotten both Pfizer shots, I walk 3-4 miles a day now, lost 25 pounds. The vaccines didn't improve my health, or harm my health, but the walking did improve as we all know it will. I still take high blood pressure medication, but I am hoping it will be even lower now with the weight loss. Looking for a driving job. Here I will send you a private converstion invite. I like Island living, well from a distance, it looks wonderful. Cost of living low, and English is spoken in the Philippines, easy to get around, U.S. Dollars accepted so is visa/mastercard, and its is nothing but islands. When we open back up the wife and I will have to take a vacation there. You take care. God Bless.

Yes. Commercial drivers are required to maintain current medical information on their driving record. Failure to do so may result in no CDL privileges and downgrade to a class D license.

Ok, yes, thank you. The way I understand it. The poster said his Licsence "expires completely" in 02/2022. So, in 6 months "no" licence at ALL. Not even the D license. So, we don't want that to happen. I can get a dot medical card and I am good as long as I can find a company to throw in with, but being overseas, and only 6 months away from ZERO license. Wow, I can see the drivers stress on this issue. Plus, there are the travel restrictions from the china flu as well. We need to put the flu behind us. Take care.
