That is how my sister and I were raised in the 60's and 70's. Those days are long gone, and the Country is much worse off than it was "back in the day".Wasted Thyme Thanks this.

Any idea how long before it hits zero?

I thought Make America Great Again was about, Slavery, White Supremecy, Racism, Homophobia, and White Privilege! I heard it on the news and saw it on facebook, it must be true.

Houses were a lot smaller too in the day. When I was young we had a small 4 bedroom house, brick, west texas childhood, wonderful then. Border was closed. Anyways the house made of brick was very easy to maintain for my parents. One new home is like 3 times that size now, and bedrooms were like 2.5 of the bedrooms we had, and then you have to fill these modern homes with furniture. Need 2 newer cars now, we had cars my father could easily repair himself, we didn't have a new car ever, just kept the Ford F250, and my mother had a Ford station wagon. I think my father replaced the evaporative air conditioner on top of the house once, a couple motor, every 2 years or so belts, pads, pumps. We had a fireplace even. We had a fire about 6 times a year. Wonderful childhood to be honest. Nothing fancy. Low crime back then. Teachers loved the USA. It was all about keeping families safe, and productive. Makes me sad to think how most children are being raised now. Oh that town, is almost a complete wreck now. The home is ugly, the neighborhood same condition. The jobs my parents had are long gone.

Economics is called the dismal science for a reason. But without making things to complicated, one could generalize in the following way:
If, in most households there was one still just one breadwinner with a good job, houses would cost X. If two people work good jobs in most households, houses will cost 2X, but the quality of home would likely only be 1.5X.
Explained differently, if one breadwinner per household on average, the household could afford X things. If average two breadwinners per household they would probably only afford 1.5X things.
I suggest that the "liberation" the women have achieved looks an awful lot like a yoke with a wagon behind it.
The men should offer to liberate the women from all that work and offer them a life of much more leisure, and less work. They could stay home with the kids, do the shopping, cooking, cleaning, napping and the spending of what's left of the paycheck on themselves, like it was before they got "liberated" into joining the corporate workforce to increase GDP. -
I must be some kind of anomaly. I’ve been driving just under two years and went from a good paying job to an excellent paying job. I’m now making the same as I was when I worked as a Database Administrator for a large multi-national, only now I have more freedom and a hell of a lot less stress.
There are plenty of good paying jobs, more so for clean records.Zangief, Team818 and BeHereNow97 Thank this. -
But not in their book.
Most companies are loathe to hire someone who they know will not stick around, because turnover is expensive.kylefitzy and Rubber duck kw Thank this.
