The person wanting to commit suicide didn't want to commit suicide, he wanted attention.
If he wanted to kill himself he would have before the cops showed up, much less giving them time to organize this.

Plus I agree with a poster above. Think about what would happen if he jumped, sliced himself on the big jagged hole of sheet metal that was the trailer roof and bled out and died. His family's only concern is which of the hundred of lawyers beating on their door to choose from.
Plus now there is trailer damage and a rejected load....

Good thing they got him down safely for the sake of traffic. That would be a costly repair if he landed on a moving truck or car.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

One time I was on the bypass on the north side of Indianapolis and the cops stopped traffic going both ways. Was wondering what was going on then noticed there was a guy looking over the edge of the overpass. Tried climbing over a couple times but other bystanders managed to grab him and the cops talked him down.

Like mentioned, it seems to be more of an attention thing. Not trying to turn into one of those threads, but the act has always intrigued me. The more disturbing ones I hear about are the remains discovered in what were thought to be long abandoned houses/apartments. Or those cases of missing persons in the woods or the deserts where a vehicle and all cash and belongings are still there. But the owner has vanished without a trace.
