It's real easy to keep saying " don't haul cheap freight " but that doesn't do much to help anyone.... even if you are right. We've all watched it time and time again . Guys will haul for peanuts , desperate to keep their head above water . But in reality they are already out of business and just won't admit it. I don't know what the solution is. I don't want anymore government involvement in the industry. But something has to change. These brokers have to be reigned in. If putting a cap on the brokers percentage works, I say do it. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to see all of the 3pl's go under. My own personal strategic plan is to beat the bushes and find direct customers so that I don't deal with brokers. What works for me won't work for everyone. Still.... somethings got to change.

It’s just the free market, supply and demand. Either you want the free market or you don’t. How would everybody like it if the put a cap on shipping rates?

If you a quoting loads against people that are hauling cheap just to make the next truck payment, you’ll never get a decent load. If that is where you find yourself, you’ve got to either change your business plan or find you something else to do.

I doubt it would change a thing if you capped broker rates. As long as people are willing to haul cheap, rates will reflect that.

I bet my business model looks nothing like 99% of the people on here. Don’t deal with brokers, quote all my prices directly to customers, and stay as busy as I want. I’ll just leave it at that, because I don’t want you cheapos getting in my business and screwing it up.
