i wouldn't necessarily call the truckerstablet underspeced or over priced.

$250 for a 7 inch android tablet with gps software is still way cheaper then the 7 inch flavors of garmin and cobra.

if your creative, sure you can do better for less. but not everyone is creative. and all they want is a new toy.

if i needed a new gps. i'll buy the truckerstablet before i buy a name brand unit. not only is it cheaper. but if it's a true android. it'll also doing everying a android tablet will do.

try surfing the internet, email. and playing games on the cobra, garmin, or rand.

After using both the Cobra and Rand McNalley 7" tablets, I purchased the truckers tablet a month ago. As a GPS it is as good as either one and much faster to re-route than either of the other two. I have been using it in the Southeast so far and hauling Hazmat so I have it set for Hazmat routing. It has been amazingly accurate so far comparing it to my prepared Hazmat route. It has a lot of nice trucking features that will improve over time as new versions of the software are installed. I will be up in Canada next week so will see how it works up there. I have not experienced a single crash while using the tablet which is more than I could say about the Rand McNalley TND. As an Android tablet, it is mediocre but fully functional for the things most truckers need on the road such as email, movies, internet surfing. The drawbacks, such as they are, short battery life (3 hours max), supplied browser not too great but Firefox works great, volume could be greater but not much of an issue. Comes with nice accessories. For $270 you can't find anything else to fill all those functions in your truck.

You are correct, I checked IP's and this guy is coming from the same cable modem as TheTableGuy, so its my opinion they are the same.

Yes, you can buy other tablets and the software. So????? Does this make the TruckersTablet an overpriced buy?

I don't think it is overpriced but fairly priced. Included in the package is two carrying cases, both an AC power supply and a DC power supply in addition to a nice windshield mount. Support is great also. Asked a question to day about configuration and had a response in a couple of hours. Try that with your other tablets or GPS manufacturers.

I also admire the little guy that is focused on our industry. More power to them.

Can it be rooted? Will it support android 4.4 kit kat? If so what is testing procedure to approve the os? What type of skin are you using? How close is it to pure android? Is your screen 1080p? How does it do in direct light? Is your screen gorilla glass if so which one 1, 2 or 3? What screen technology are you using super amoled , amoled led? If I can root can I over clock the CPU? What size is the battery? I'm sorry for questions but I have a nexus7 and it's a amazing device. Paid less then $300 with top notch specs and Google's support.

You can root it but it is definitely not Nexus quality. Good for simple day to day use in the truck as a GPS and to read email or watch an occasional movie.

Is there any way you could build a APK that could be installed on any android based tablet. I am sure you could find a ROM that is stripped of the bloatware and install the truckers features your device offers.

Or just offer the truckers GPS software as an app in the app store. I read up a bit on your website I cant seem to find the mapping software you are using.

You are correct, you brick your phone or tablet once it can be painful. If you dont have safestrap or some other recovery software installed, your device is now an expensive conversation piece.

I dont see your comment as an insult but some people just want stuff to work right out of the box without messing with it later. THat is what you are paying for.

i highly doubt the truckers tablet can be rooted. it's probably some manufacture that no one is using.

i bought a 7 inch tablet from radioshack. at the time it was the cheapest thing available. but it can't be rooted. becuase no one has developed the exploit for the bootloader. it's not a popular brand.

root is only available for popular brands. no one is going to waste their time for something no one buys.
