Do I need to point out that I am simply using a computer for what they are good for: communication, information, and entertainment? Oh, I just did.

And instead of finding irony and pointing it out, maybe you could point out an answer to my question of what we are all gonna do for employment after your beloved technology replaces us all. What are you gonna do, Kajidono? I know that a number of people will be employed repairing the computers and fixing the messes they make. But what about everyone else? What are the million of additional unemployed going to do. I think for societies sake, it would be better to leave computers to the internet, and leave the important things to men and women.

Now this here, ya'll, is what should definitely be called a ludicrous thread, along with Y2k and the world ending in 2012. There will always be those speculators that see the sky falling, global warming, and disasters befalling mankind... sure.. it may some day happen, but worrying about it isn't accomplishing a thing!

I'll answer that point when you go back to living in a grass roofed house, use a horse and wagon to move freight, and refuse all modern medicine.

I'm not saying we should rush into doing it. I'm not saying that it'll be the greatest thing ever. I'm saying that barring a massive, catastrophic event, it is inevitable. You'd have as much luck arguing with the weather.

It is one car. Think of how many years it will take for this idea to over take the auto industry. Then add 20 years the truck industry is behind auto and you see this is a lifetime away. Long before the driverless truck you will be replaced by rail, and cheap working foreign drivers.

And by 1980 we'll all be driving flying cars.
Computers will do so much that humans do that we will not know what to do with all our spare time. (by 1990)
    yea....I remember all those predictions.

Yeah, let's just push all that out to the year 2100 for now. Assuming we don't destroy everything trying to kill each other.

Technology is pregnant with artificial intelligence. I find it disturbing that thousands of scientists are trying to make people obsolete. Technology has taken many jobs away, and so on.

We are a stupid/ignorant organism bent on making ourselves useless.
