I have a feeling we are cranking towards a logistical war effort. Sometimes Dear Uncle Sam wants trucks and all of it. Quietly.

Nothing new. We always see the ebb and flow of capacity. The problem will be when there is an overcapacity, rates drop and capacity begins to retract.

I am betting that there will be an incentive for people who are clueless to go out and buy trucks and make a little money then go bust when there is a dip in the market.

Well, I got in as an owner operator while things were slim and the rates were tight, I survived and actually held my own.

Now that things are heating up it's been some good eating, yet, I haven't changed the way I live, save and spend.

One thing I see as a major impediment to new guys trying to jump in now are the insurance rates.

Underwriting for new entrants is very tough to come by at a competitive rate. I personally know guys who are trying to get their own numbers and can't because the the rate quotes are 20k to 30k a year.

If they play it smart and while rates are up they can afford the premium and when rates fall they will be a few years in and insurance and may be lower.

Its good times right now if you are positioned right and didn't have your head shoved in the sand over elds .
I hope I'm wrong but I think every body and his brother will see big bucks in trucking and run out and buy a truck .
The market will adjust accordingly but who the heck knows ?
I do know I wouldn't want to be a mileage contract right now !

I'd love to get my own numbers but insurance is 45000 a year, intrastate under 300 mile radius.

Steel Dragon and Mike2633 Thank this.
