I know I have limited experience, but I do try to be as honest as I can with my posts. -
Thats a fact, already in school because my normal skill has fallen off the face of planet. I thank you for the kind words and hope to find a good CO to be with...
I must say that it this forum is very interesting to read, but like everyhting, you get out of it what you want too... I am a positive person who wants to provide for family.... Thats all !!!
Whomever I go to work for will be well served by my effort and integrity as well as loyalty.

Hey Husker just try to keep your eyes and ears open at whatever company you do go with. If your at a terminal and everyone is griping about miles( not just one or two) there is a good sign that you need to be putting out aps. Above all be safe when you do get out on the road, and listen alot, you may hear some important info.
Good luck to ya driver, you will need it because things are not very good out here right now.
We all are hoping they will get better tho -
parking trucks that aren't profitable was meant as we aren't deadheading you like we may have in the past. Please sit for 18 hours until you get on the next relay load. and We used to just hand you a 1500 mile gravy run... now we hand you that same load but you'll only be driving 500 miles of it then relaying it to squanto for his 500 miles who will relay it to billy-ray for the finish line.
btw you may be lucky to get 500 miles it might be 300 each and toss in another couple of drivers.
ya'see as long as you all pull the load a little then BigCorp doesn't fire you, they starve you out instead... they also don't pay any layover fees becuse you weren't laid over 24 hours... you were honestly dispatched (300 miles of a tag team).
when enough experienced guys get fed up with relays and long weekends the company will eventually need the load moved. then the new guy gets a chance. maybe not for .37 a mile.... but for .29 cents... or .24 cents...
why sure partner sign right here and we'll have ya in a rig before the end of the week...
RickG Thanks this. -
Thanks...
I do appreciate the feedback! -
We have one guy that drives OTR for Knight that lives here locally.
He's worked about 10 days since Christmas. -
MO Family Man hit the nail on the head. Trucking is what you make of it. Get with the right company and you'll get paid what you deserve. Don't expect to make $0.50+ per mile as a company driver right out of school. Pay your dues and eventually, your pay will improve.
Times are tough all across the industry. Several smaller companies have gone under, larger ones are struggling, and the big ones are cutting back. Even Wal-Mart has gone to laying off drivers.
One thing about trucking ... without trucks, America stops. Until the railroad gets their act together.
