Roehl is known to have pretty decent hometime.
Ill be going to their school in a few weeks, so I dont know yet how true that is, though, but check out their website.

They have very good reviews, too.

    Just a thought.

Ok let;s be real here. A company has a hundred drivers some have been with them for 5 years now you come in no experience just out of school and need more training and you really expect them to hand you the best job in the house ! you may find companies that have better home time than some, but you most likely will never find a good paying job that has you off every weekend unless you haul cement or something like that. Not trying to be an A__ , but you gotta be real in today's job market .

You're way off . Most carriers with only 100 drivers don't hire students anyway . The large carriers do have some dedicated runs with good home time but newbies have to take whatever is given to them.

When you become a truck driver..companies will never guarantee that you will be home every weekend. They say that you will get home for a day and half (taking a 34 hour) or that you may get through to the house if you are on your 10. Now my husband worked for a company locally here in Indiana for the first year as a board runner (OTR)(very low pay), but he did get home for a day here or a day there with his 34 hour at home, but there were times that he had to do his 34 out on the road. He now works for a company that pays better, but he is out for 2 weeks and home for 2 days.

Everything that Wooly Rhino said is exactly true. I said to my husband the other night that I truly understand why marriages sometimes don't last for truck drivers. It is a hard adjustment for the truckers wife to be a single parent...but it is harder on the driver because he is missing out on his children growing up. The driver feels alone...just as the wife feels alone. The pay is not great the first year as a newbie, but you do your time for one year..and then you find something that suits your needs.

Is every weekend really important or would home weekly be o.k. ? I have only had a couple of restarts in the past 4 years where I was away from home . Our customers run 24/7 and some require weekend deliveries or a Monday or Friday delivery 700 miles from home but I am home two full days every week .

Amtrack, I finally figured out who you were....email me on FB, and I will try and help. Folks they are from TN, and I don't know of alot of companies down there except for Star and Swift. I know that Averitt does alot of deliveries to Nissan, and has regional work in that area but I don't know about their hometime. I know that Roehl has the adjusted schedule of 7 on and 7 off or something like that. I know there is U.S. Express in Chattanooga that also has alot of freight in the southern regions. I don't know much about their scheduling for home time, but you can call and talk to the recruiters yourself. It's just knowing the right questions to ask...and I can help you with that.

I have to disagree with you, just because someone is new to driving does not equal what your offering as information in today's market if a company needs drivers it is not about how many they employ but demand.
