Willow run will get you one for free if you stay 2 yrs. It's a food service company where you can gross about 45k your first yr in their training program. 4 day work week you sleep in the truck 2 nights a week

After a few years you can be in the low 70s if you hustle. Top drivers do close to 90k. Management sucks though

They do. I just left willow to go across the river to maines paper and food. Willow has a good program to get your cdl for free but as soon as your contract is up I would jump ship, its not really a place you want to make a career of. When i talk about the top guys doing close to 90k its the trainers that are also fully vested in profit sharing. company wide avg is right around 60k, still better than otr

 

hey brett was just curious do you know if during there training program to get your cdl do they teach and test you on a manual truck i am currently thinking about going to them to get my cdl and stay with them the 2 years they require then go get a OTR job instead or if i like food service go to maines or something

 

I had the same issue with Roehl. I'm guessing they're overloaded with student drivers? Not hearing from Roehl triggered me to beg and plead for a family loan to go to a school. I will say, the school I chose is clearly a CDL mill, which I realized within the first two hours: no schedule, no timeline to completion, the "instructors" literally just hand out keys to the yard trucks and let you do whatever, as long as it's in the old POS yard trucks with at least 50° of steering play. Be cautious with the schools, and be self motivated. It's the only way I'm getting through my school.
