Trucking Company Growth Questions

To answer your original post, most carriers don't grow that much year after year. Growth is usually a very slow process, full of ups and downs. You may have 20 trucks and get up to 30 trucks, only to slowly lose back to 20 trucks. Many times when you get to a certain plateau, someone within your operation will leave and start their own company. Most carriers find their niche where they are comfortable and stay within 10-15% of that number.

I am not going to get into whether or not you are doing well using brokers. I don't see where you benefit from lying on this forum. I know of a few small carriers that exclusively use brokers and do ok. I will say that if your goal is to grow, you will never get much bigger than you currently are without a true customer base.

How do you get your own shippers? If I could answer that, I wouldn't be sitting here typing! Finding brokers is easy and finding shippers is hard, that is why there are so many of the former and not enough of the latter.

Also, don't nitpick on spelling. If the point is a good one, then take it for what it is worth. If not, then debate it on the merits. Wisdom and education are two separate things.
