still common in municipals, they simply own too much containers and whole network for disposal etc. so they keep buying same thing. private companies dont longer buy this. on coast it is still popular as it takes much less space to load/unload container than roll-off, friend of my father returned to them for same reason

some reasons why it is not used as used to be:
    -1t heavier than rolloff system
-it is not possible to get full width of containers
    -lot of chain work

some companies buy container lifting system like this one that is container itself too. and can load two small containers on 3axle truck

as for chassis this one is expensive at MB. alternative is: buy same WB 6x2/4 tractor, remove battery box from overhang, cut overhang by 10cm, buy hook and crossmember for it, pull air/electrics to back of chassis. cut fuel tank to make space for battery box (you can either buy original or make it) also possible to put batteries next to oil tank behind cab. you can use it as tractor if you make demountable lifting system.
this is not what would i recommend as you dont have proper esp settings for drawbar trailer, but save money and time.

I wonder how that happened? I have loaded 8 m2 containers full of drill cuttings which weigh about 13 tons without problem. This is a much smaller container so it cant weight 13+ tons.
JOAB or Laxå lifts for 3 axle trucks will handle 18 tons without problem.

i have no idea, but on 3axle truck you usually mount 18t skip, which of course leave some tolerance for extra weight. bodybuilder must provide that it keep stable under all conditions

I think the container he allready has on his truck slid backwards .
That combined with with lifting the second one meant he couldn't reverse his situation.
