Problem is that we can't not hog up the fuel island when we all KNOW it's a problem. How ever were about to go march to Washington? Let's start by being more caring about other drivers first such as not blocking fuel islands, and flipping each other off, then maybe we can get together and March. In the mean time make your money and enjoy it.

And that's precisely why drivers won't go on strike...

I like your spirit I truly do but unfortunately we all have work to do. We don't have time to spend to round up posers that have nothing better to do then attend rallies.

There is big crooked money to be made in rallies and protests. Unfortunately???? guys like the op and the rest of us will not get a share of it.

Which is true we all have jobs and have to work but when I said to march I use it as a example... We can come up with smart ideas to get the same point across through articles through letters... But change all starts with us in conducting ourself in a professional manner once again... We could even start a group much like that one group that came about after 911 the trucker watch program there is a lot that can be done but the talk must be done first to bring change.

Mornin' Highwolf, ( hope you are someplace warm, it's -16 in N.Wis.) In all honesty, you are on the right track. The industry needs people like you that really care about the future of trucking. I'm an old fart and am done with the industry. It's just a different job now than it was years ago. Years ago, you make a stink, and you're out the door, and some other poor sap is driving the truck you were in. We are in a time period, where, like you say, other groups are getting recognition, truckers should too ( long overdue) Old farts like me probably won't help much, but it can start with one person. I spent my entire working life in a truck, and I'd love to see some change before I die. Best of luck.

I often wondered what it would be like if the industry shut down for days to weeks.bet it's a sweet site.even though you wouldn't be getting paid at the end when Washington sees we have had enough they would start meeting truckers half way.but most the industry is company drivers so the shut down needs to start with the motor carriers.which we all know they don't fight they just give in.we have OOIDA always fighting for truckers rights and will never stop.but there's too many people on the opposing side I would love nothing more to see much needed change but today's industry is all about money and nothing more.

So what are the reasons exactly you want to go to Washington? What rights do you want?

Tolls is a big one especially the bridges in nyc like George Washington there is no free way to go. Hut in terms that's double dipping on top of tolls and ifta. Just society's out look on the industry. We have dot on our ### 24/7 treating us like criminals . No education for 4 wheelers people need to understand we are out here out of importance. Not just because and the public eye and Washington need to understand that. Def what a trash system if I had the money I would have scientist see what that crap really does to the environment on top of the horrible fuel economy . I am on a 2012 with the new system and getting 5.3 mpg ... My 96 with cat engine gets average 6.6 to 7 . People in Washington making laws when they have no idea it's sad to think someone on welfare sitting at home and healthy is making out better then some of us pushing these diesels working this meant hours. We work so many hours and so hard and are not getting paid what we are worth... Granite I am not saying we are as important as doctors I understand they got many loans and that's why they charge so much money for there services. But don't we have air of loans and are we not important. Doctors may save lives but we sure get him the equipment he needs to do so .... We need to be paid what we are worth. Trust me I can go do anything I was born into the sign trade . My dad owned a profitable sign company in Cali. But I chose this ... Hell I am from Cali I can't even go back home to my family there because I don't have a new truck and can't afford a new truck to be making the same rates as my older truck paid off gets.... I thought this was United States of America. I thought we were one nation.... But I see these are just words.... These laws in Cali need to be changed I would love to move back but now I am in east coast. What happen to freedom... We don't have the freedom to buy any truck we want because it is dictated by people in government that have no idea about anything in the industry. We all know that these major companies that buy these expensive trucks be price dwindles down to the consumer. So the consumer is not saving anymore money with that brand new truck that cost 200k but gets 8 mpg and a older truck paid off will produce... These are just some This post could just go on and on... Electronic logs freedom what freedom is that we are not criminals most of us out here have a pretty good head on our shoulders.. So we know how to run responsibly... Professionally...
