you should have posted the question, "should i get my own truck"??
i would have not only said NO, but i would have said...HELL NO, and saved you a whole bunch of misery.
first and foremost, a "driver" should have at the very least "up to" 5 years experience, and money in the bank, cuz money is needed until one becomes able to operate in the black, and that can take a long time.
if you "jumped into" being an o/o with out some of the suggested items above, then it's ALL ON YOU, not the industry....
you failed, because you did not do your homework, get experience, save your money, maybe even bought a POS truck as well.
failures happen DAILY in ALL businesses, and industries, and many suck it up, accept responsibility for thier failures, and move on.
when YOU realize that YOU, and YOU ALONE failed, let us know........
cuz right now, i know i don't feel sorry for you, and i cannot believe too many others do either..

otherwise, monthly or even quarterly we pay a "fee" for each additional payment.
paying in full, affords discounts up front.Flat Earth Trucker and Vampire Thank this. -
Far as prepaying insurance, not a chance. Those crooks get my payment on the due date, and not a nickel more for another 6 months. Oh they try, with catchy discounts, that do nothing heaven forbid you actually have a claim. No sir, the insurance biz will be one of the institutions that takes this country down, if it hasn't already, and you'll see. Ins. premiums will become so expensive, people just won't/can't pay it anymore, but still need that car. It's a mess.Flat Earth Trucker, W923 and Last Call Thank this. -
i was telling him like it is....
second, car insurance here at least in New England goes in 6 month increments....so me and the Mrs pay the FULL 6 months worth of premiums for that discount.
third, auto insurance is MANDATORY in my state, as well as a few others.
and i take FULL advantage of discounts, health, auto, home.... -

Trucking is not worth it -- FOR SOME PEOPLE.
I have observed elsewhere here on the Forum -- IT'S NOT A JOB FOR JUST ANYONE.
Some people simply have no business trying to make a living in a big rig.
They just don't have "the right stuff".
