Chinatown I agree 100% with one small caveat. This subject has been all over the news since Trump was elected. You don't have a green card and go into place in some state and run into a cop that will check immigration status said driver had better make sure all is right. This is how somebody can fall between the cracks and get detained. Having a CDL or even for that matter a company to hire does not negate the real chance of running into -----

I am not trying to be argumentive or a jerk. I just know these idiots are all over the US and they will lock up first and ask questions later. At a minimum, I would get something that can be verified to establish a legal right to be in the US.

Nothing! I was born to parents that themselves were born in the US. I'm not trying to make a political statement here. I was actually saying in an open-ended way there has to be a way to show you are legally in the US when on the road that will satisfy all the bozos out there that will become aggressive toward an immigrant otherwise. If you don't have something I would advise against doing it.

I don't see the time to take American Trucking school courses within the short span of a visa. This assumes very heavily on the idea that the citizen of Neverland visiting as a legal alien to these United States already possess a CDL or equilvilant from his home country.

I don't have any proof of my citizenship that I carry with me daily, I don't know anyone who does either. If there are law enforcement agencies out there detaining people who don't have proof on their person, that is very serious indeed.

Nothing personal but this is a classic example of how a conversation can go sideways. Do you mind reviewing my comments and showing me where I said you must have proof of citizenship on you? In my comments I used the words legal right, I was NOT talking about citizenship! Think about that in regard to this thread topic! Because if I did I need to fix it. If you are not a citizen and are asked by LEOs both state and federal about it, do you replay no? I took VERY a very careful time to express I was not trying to make a political point. My comment was then and still is now, if you are NOT a citizen and have no green card how do you show the officer you have a right to be here? A visa? some other document? I don't know! That was why my statement was open-ended. Because there are cops that will harass a person for this. I just know if you are stopped and tell the cop you are NOT a citizen and have no other paperwork that cop has to either detain you and find out or let you go. In these days and times, what chance do you think a cop will (just) let you go?

I didn't consider anything you wrote to be political at all. You mentioned carrying proof of immigration status incase you are stopped by law enforcement and I was curious as to why you thought that was necessary as that is not considered standard procedure. As far as I know you are only required to identify yourself if asked, name and current address. If cops ( not CBP Officers at border crossings) are overstepping their bounds and asking about citizenship or immigration staus that is a completely different matter. I haven't encountered that and you didn't say whether you had.

Again, nothing to do with politics.

The thing is with the exception of about 20 or so members on TTR I have actually met I have no idea who I am discussing these issues with. I have my political opinions on this subject as most everybody else does. Nothing personal but to be totally honest I have not met any of the admins here either. I'm counting on the website owners to have done due diligence in their selections of them. the reason I got a bit defensive is I have no idea who you are. And because I try to show respect I keep my comments on these kinds of things generalized. because of this, I can't be clear and specific. If we were in a cafe talking I would be!
