    Hello,

I'm new to the forum, but recently I've become interested in trucking. I have no friends where I live, and I'm independent from my mom and dad. I'm 21 years old and live in Northern California.

I'm considering beginning trucking school. I've had friendly contact with a school here in Sacramento, and I was wondering what other truckers thought of the offer. The price is $4,000 and the instructor claims to offer 1 week classroom time, the other three weeks with hands on and driving experience. They claim a 90%+ rate of finding students jobs upon successful completion of the 4 week course. He provides the equipment and the tests needed for a trucking license. Is $4,000 a good price for trucking school for a four week course or should I look for something less expensive if it is optional?

The reason I'm interested in trucking is because I feel as though it would match my lifestyle. I do like to drive, and I did manage an 18 hour van ride twice when I was attending college out of state.

My biggest problem however is damage in my shoulder. I tore my rotator cuff in December and I'm hoping to have surgery in the coming few weeks. I spoke with the owner of the trucking school and he said depending on how the injury heals, I should be fine and even recommended long haul trucking.

I'm hoping that if I manage to attend and complete school, I can find a local route like Sacramento to Reno or something similar. I know I can't be picky as to what jobs I'm offered.

So is this a good idea once I recover?

Probably a good idea since it been mentioned on here before that California doesn't have community college CDL schools. If that still the case, then go for the private school.

    Quit making excuses!

Some of us have gotten bored and shifted with our feet!

    Nawww I'm screwin with ya.

Conway has team dedicated runs that run out of Sacramento to Henderson Colorado.

It would be much cheaper as well if you joined by going to crowder college and you would already have a job.

    Worth looking into
