AIT wants $3800 (no sitting fee), if paid cash. I visited the place a week ago - they appear to have a good facility with decent instructors & equipment. But the best part is that whoever hires me (likely Werner) won't own me for the subsidized tuition cost ($6600). Even so, Werner will still chip in $100 per month to "trickle reimburse" me for my school tuition. I can elect to properly resign at any time without incurring a huge and immediately due driving school balance. I sure don't anticipate quitting - I would much prefer to stay with one company for the duration (hopefully 8 - 10 years). I'm a 59-year old retread with lots of airport fuel truck and OTR motor home experience, but zero Class 8 time. There's only one other ab initio trucking outfit that has a Phoenix yard - Swift. After much research, I decided to go with Werner. It will be up to them if I stay until I retire, as I have a life-long ability to handle more BS than most, so if I give up on a company, that means that 90% of other folks would be already gone.
