A guy needs to get out of the cab every hour or 2. I'd take logging, gravel, rental equipment delivery, tow truck, food service, etc long before I'd run long haul.

"And another one gone, another one gone, another one bites the dust",, you know, this site is rapidly turning into"Calling it quits". Okay, we hear of a couple drivers throwing in the towel, and doesn't sound like much, but on the bigger picture, we are truly screwed.

I have at least another 20 years to go, possibly 25 if I have a good enough run by then.NavigatorWife, D.Tibbitt, JoeyJunk and 4 others Thank this. -

I’d like to add to this. I’ll be out here 30 years in October. This job does take a toll on your body overtime. I do try to eat right and stay away from the foods in the truck stops. I bring my own. What bothers me the most is the shoulder pain from repetition. I don’t stay out two weeks at a time anymore. I come home every 5 to 7 days and I need three or more to recuperate. Word to the Young bucks just starting out stay away from truck stop food drink lots of water and see a chiropractor on a regular basis it really does help in the long run. But the shoulder pain will come in time.

Got new shocks, finally, and that has made a world of difference for me. Had to have evidence they were leaking for the lease company.
Be very careful and think before dealing with things too trying physically, like how you get up out of the seat. Especially when that seat has dropped to the floor and can't be raised back up(#### that T680 I was cursed with for less than a day).NavigatorWife and Lumper Humper Thank this. -

I personally liked the older HOS where all we needed to show was 8 hours sleeper or off duty in a 24. Allowed much more flexibility in your day imho.singlescrewshaker, mustang190, Lumper Humper and 3 others Thank this. -
My Dad sat at a desk, I sit behind a wheel, neither job actively provides anything resembling physical activity. Dad got up and walked the hallways twice a day, I get out of the truck and walk whenever I stop, if possible, and always when I’m parked for my 10. I also force myself to do push-ups and sit-ups.
It’s not trucking that’s unhealthy, it’s laziness.frontrange, JoeyJunk, mustang190 and 6 others Thank this.
