Some doors in Chicago area have a downgrade into the building and a dock that you bump up to. Not alot of 'em out there, mostly in Chicago area from my experience. They are usually very skinny too.
Trucks are so shiny and clean...

No I agree with you, it's just my warped view. When I saw the word apartment in a thread about cleaning the outside of a truck, it threw the ridiculous switch in my head. I pictured a forty story building, and a guy with a garden hose over his shoulder, and toilet plungers duct taped to his hands and feet.
-
Well I am not in a skyscraper, I do clean my windows on the outside, and powerwash the siding if it gets filthy. So yes I clean the outside!
Besides washing your truck is part of good maintenance, Your paint wont oxidize, the body wont rust, and the wiring wont corrode.
Why does it bother you so much that I like a clean and shiny truck? I do it for me! I enjoy nice trucks, truck shows, and my job. And it does help the image of our industry that so many think are just disgusting pigs. I am not going to apologize for going above and beyond, I love it!Last edited: Dec 21, 2012

You can get with your FM and he can authorize a wash if you need one. Example delivered at a job site got mud all over the truck etc. etc.
Since I spent more time in my truck that I do at my wifes house. I call it my home and I like to keep it clean.
I sleep in my bed every day. every 5 to 6 days I sleep in the wife's -
We go home every month or two, so it for all intesive purposes it is our home. My wife has only been out here with me for 2 years, but I kept my trucks clean and shiny all 12 going on 13. Nothing wrong with taking pride in what you do and showing it.

sewerman Thanks this. -
When did they start letting us clean our trailers except on special occasions?
-
They have always washed the truck & trailer every time e go to a BB. At least for the past year.
-
They've always done both for me....even got them to put brightner on one trailer once...It seems like each BB will do different things. Some wash the engine, others say that "Maverick doesn't pay for that"...
-
That is totally new news to me. I only remember one time when they said we could wash the trailer as well.
-
Just like Evil they even used brightener once. Of course we had to swap trailers that fri at Charlotte Pipe but at least for a few days we looked pretty darn good LOL
