I was curious what type of trucks are usually given to solo-drivers after they've finished the training process and go full solo. What model Freightliner or Peterbilt model should a rookie expect? If it's a light truck, what size are the beds in light trucks as opposed to full-sized? Final question, if space gets too cramped after a few months, how long until Prime will allow you to upgrade to a truck with a bigger sleeper or more storage space? I'll be starting off solo, but after a few months or a year, I plan to possibly team, so thats why I'm asking.

Man.. You will be given a truck..It is not a house it is a truck . You will get whatever they have on hand... There is no such thing as a light truck or full size.. Once again you will be given whatever they have on hand (and what they run).. If you get cramped after a few months go on a diet... They are not going to let you switch trucks very often and your comfort and storage space means very little to them.. This industry you get what you get.. and that is normally no more or no less than you put into it..

Now some pretty sound advice..Learn to drive before you worry about where to put what in the truck... As my grandmother use to say... Don't worry about the mule just load the wagon..

Forgive me further asking, but I was told by other truckers on this forum that there are distinctly different cabin and bed sizes between different types of tractors. Full-Condo's, Light-weight, etc...I may be getting some of the terminology wrong, sorry about that, just going on based what I read and trying to remember.

I don't know who that guy is, but there IS a difference between lightweight and full size trucks at Prime. Most company drivers get a lightweight. It is a bit smaller, but most have posted that they can get comfortable in them. Nothing is older than 2010. Each truck has been cleaned and detailed before you get it.

Thanks for clarifying that eagle. I'd like to google the bed-sizes and possibly pics of the interiors of some of the trucks. Could you tell me a few make/model's that a rookie can expect as a solo company driver? I have no problem with lightweight for the first year.

I was given a 2011 t800 with a 550 isx as my first truck right after getting my CDL.
It was a rental the company has.
After a few drivers quit and moved to other trucks, I'm now in an 08 T800w with same 550isx. Just not a rental.

They moved you from a 2011 T-800 to a 2008 T-800 model? Forgive my ignorance, but why did they take you from a new truck and put you in an older truck of the same make/model? Wouldn't that be a downgrade? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something you said?

No. The 2011 is a rental. There are 3-4 rental trucks at our company.

Now I'm in a company owned truck, the 2008.
    Larger bunk, aero cab
The rental is governed at 115kmh. My truck isn't governed. Not that I speed anyways.

I have researched this to death huckstah. I am starting training on the 26th. There is good chance you will you will get 2011 or new Cascadia with a 48in sleeper that is a mid roof. There are very view images of the cabs of these trucks on the web. If u search prime lightweights on this site. U will see 3 images of the interior of one. From my research. In a nutshell, if u have seen the interior of the cascadia condo. Take out both side cabinets from behind the driver and passanger seats and slide the bead up to area of where the cabinets were. Thats your lightweight

AB ? You don't drive for PRIME , do you ? The OP was asking about trucks for PRIME drivers . They don't speed either though unless it's in a 55 m.p.h. construction zone .
115 kmh then not governed ? You didn't go to Quebec or Ontario , did you ?
